Voyagers and Owlz Trade Fast Starts in Doubleheader Split

Riley Jepson, Collin Runge, and Ryan McCarthy hit back-to-back-to-back home runs in the third to extend the Voyagers' lead to 5-0. Northern Colorado fought back in the bottom of the fourth with Dave Matthews and Danny Perez each hitting two-run home runs to get within one. However, Christopher De Guzman's two-run triple capped off a three-run fifth and his three hit, two-rbi performance to end the scoring at 8-4 in favor of Great Falls.
Northern Colorado came out swinging in the second game of Thursday night's doubleheader. Although the Voyagers took a 1-0 lead in the first, Henry George's solo home run tied the game and Danny Perez's RBI sacrifice groundout gave the Owlz the lead in the first and they never looked back. Estevan De La O hit a two-rbi triple and Jackson Coutts a two-run home run immediately after in the second, followed by a solo home run from Abdel Guadalupe to cap off a six run inning for the Owlz. The Great Falls relievers stayed strong after the third inning, with Breonn Pooler Pitching two shutout innings with three strikeouts, but the Voyagers couldn't score enough as PBL first-round draft pick Michael Slaten earned the save for Northern Colorado to take game two 10-7.
Range Riders' Eighth Inning Explosion Leads to Third Straight Win
Both teams' starters were impressive Thursday night, holding the game to three combined runs for the majority of it. Glacier starter Jonathan Pinataro, gave up two runs on three hits with three strikeouts in six innings, keeping his team close in the early innings. Billings starter Pat Maybach shut Glacier down from the mound by only letting up one earned run and 2 hits in five innings with six strikeouts.The score was 2-1 until the bottom of the eighth, when the rally started with an RBI single to left field from Crews Taylor, followed by a three-rbi bases clearing double from Jackson Raper and a two-rbi double by Benjamin Fitzgerald. Billings' two-run ninth wasn't enough as Glacier took the game by a final score of 7-4.
Wyatt's Big Night Highlights Chukars' Dominant Win
The Chukars came into Thursday night's game looking for their third win in a row over the struggling Jackalopes. Idaho Falls put on an offensive clinic, putting up 15 runs on 17 hits in the blowout win. They started the scoring with a five-run third inning from and then poured it on with a seven-run sixth inning. Tyler Wyatt led the Chukars' offense with three hits and seven RBIs featuring a three-run home run in the seventh inning. Idaho Falls outfielder Jordan Myrow had three hits as well, while Sam Troyer, Cordell Dunn, and Zach May each had two hits and two RBIs. Pitchers Tom Walker and Robbie Brown only let up a combined five hits for Idaho Falls while only giving up two runs. The Chukars look to keep up their winning streak against the Jackalopes on Friday night.
Vibes Prevail over Paddleheads in Back and Forth Bout
Missoula took their first lead of the night in the second inning, scoring two runs and then another in the third. Rocky Mountain stormed back in the fourth, scoring four runs off of an RBI double from Dusty Stroup and a three-run home run by Edmond Americaan. Rocky Mountain extended their lead to 7-3 in the fifth, but Missoula took the lead once again, scoring six runs in the sixth to take the lead 9-7. The Paddleheads collected six runs off six hits in the outburst, with Keaton Greenwalt and Jared Akins each hitting their second RBI of the game. However, it was the Vibes with the last laugh with a three run seventh to take a lead that they would keep for the rest of the game.
Late Heroics Propel Raptors to Series Advantage Over Hawks
Game three between the two South Division leaders got exciting quickly with a combined six runs scored in the first inning. Reese Alexiades' two-run home run put the Raptors up in the top of the first, but Boise responded with a two-rbi single from Anthony Walters and a two-run home run by Sean Skelly. Austin Walters got his third RBI of the game in just the second inning to extend the lead, while Juan Teixieira hit a single to score Cameron Phelts and Alexiades also collected his third RBI in the third inning to cut the deficit to one. Then, the bats went quiet for both teams, with Ogden's bullpen not giving up a run and Boise holding strong as well. With two outs in the top of eighth, Landen Barns broke the dry spell with a single to left-center field, scoring Nick Ultsch and Logan Williams to take the lead and soon win, 6-5. Both teams are tied at the top of the South Division at 6-3 and they'll fight on Friday night for an edge in the standings.
