The self-proclaimed "cardiac kids" of Northern Colorado have done it again, walking off for the third time this season in their six wins. This time it was a Danny Perez single which scored Brandon Crosby as celebrations ensued. Outside of the late heroics for the Owlz, both starting pitchers were flat-out dominant. For the Voyagers, Andrew Garcia took a perfect game through four innings before Jackson Coutts became the first Owl to reach base with his triple in the bottom of the fifth. In total, Garcia went six collecting 11 strikeouts on his way, and Chase Jessee was great as well, going seven innings with seven punchouts. The game ended as a 3-2 win for the Owlz, and Great Falls will look to get back in the series Saturday night at 7:05.
Boise 3, Ogden 2: Hawks Walk it Off in All-Around Clutch Pitching Display Against Raptors
In a battle between the two teams tied atop the South Division, it was the Hawks who grabbed first place with the second walk-off of the day. In a great decision by Boise manager Gary Van Tol, pinch runner Alan Alonso went from second to home on a double play ball to score the winning run. Despite totaling 20 hits between the two teams only five runs were scored in the contest, a testament to the clutch pitching for both clubs. After a good start from Gavin Correll, the Hawks bullpen allowed only one despite leaving six runners on base in their four innings of work. Ultimately the Hawks picked up the 3-2 win in an almost identical game to the Voyagers-Owlz game earlier in the night.
Rocky Mountain 10, Glacier 7: Home Runs Galore in Glacier, but Vibes Come Out Victorious
The ball was flying in northwest Montana last night as the Vibes and Range Riders combined for seven home runs in the contest. It was the power-hitting duo of Jacob Barfield and Dusty Stroup who led the way for the Vibes, going seven for nine at the dish with seven RBIs as Barfield homered twice. Benjamin Fitzgerald stayed hot for Glacier, hitting a double and a triple to raise his slugging percentage to 1.036, good enough for second in the league. The Range Riders were never able to keep up with the Vibes' offense as Rocky Mountain starting pitcher Christian Day collected a quality start, allowing just two runs and four hits in six innings.
PaddleHeads' Offense Shines Again, As Big Fourth Inning Powers Victory
After winning the series against the Vibes, the PaddleHeads started their second straight homestand against the Mustangs on the right note. They scored at least nine runs in their fourth straight game, including a two-run homer by catcher Austin Bernard. Eight players collected exactly one hit, and their five-run fourth inning was too much for Billings to come back from. PaddleHeads starter Kelvan Pilot gave up ten hits but only three runs in his six and a third innings and the bullpen had enough cushion to not have to worry. Missoula will attempt to clinch the series tonight at 7:05.
