Coming into the fourth week of the season, Missoula and Glacier were close atop the North Division, with the PaddleHeads leading by a game. After Friday night, the PaddleHeads hold the best record in the league at 17-5 and are five games up on the second-place Range Riders. The PaddleHeads followed the same script that they have all year – dominating on offense with solid pitching leading them to their ninth victory in a row. Every starter recorded a hit – left fielder Jared Akins led the way with three, one of which was a solo home run in Missoula's six-run seventh inning. Zach Penrod went 5 1/3 innings, giving up two runs, and Austin Dill recorded the three-inning save. The PaddleHeads took the game by a final of 11-3 and will look to go for 10 in a row today at 7:05.
Ogden 13, Idaho Falls 2: Raptors Blow Out Chukars Behind Huge Day at the Plate by Ultsch
After taking two of three on the road against the Hawks, the Raptors hosted the Chukars for the seventh time this season in Ogden. The Raptors looked quite comfortable in this one as leadoff man and 2023 PBL Draft pick Nick Ultsch lead the way, going 4-for-5 with four runs batted in. Ogden was up 8-0 by the start of the fifth, which was plenty of run support for starter Edward Baram, who only allowed three hits and one run in his seven innings of work. Idaho Falls scored just two runs on four hits a day after collecting 15 runs on 15 hits in Thursday's game against the Vibes. The 13-2 win is the Raptors' third in a row as they are now just one game behind the Owlz in the South Division.
Boise 6, Rocky Mountain 1: Hawks' Pitching Trio Shuts Down Vibes in Fast-Moving Contest
The Hawks donned their Baconators jerseys and the Hawks' pitchers made quick work of the Vibes hitters consistently in a game that just took just two hours and 25 minutes. It was the trio of starter Buddie Pindell, reliever Gavin Correll and closer Nate Alexander, who each retired at least seven batters and held the Vibes to just one run and four hits. The Boise hitters took a small ball approach to give them the support needed, scoring three of their six runs on sacrifice hits. Anthony Walters' two-run home run in the seventh sealed the game as a 6-1 win for the Hawks. The Vibes will look to right the ship today at 7:05.
Great Falls 14, Billings 5: Voyagers Snap Eight-Game Losing Streak in Big Win over Mustangs
After getting swept in Billings, the Voyagers were able to get back on track on their home turf, snapping their eight-game losing streak in the process. The Voyagers starting outfield of Riley Jepson, Ryan McCarthy, and Jake Malec crushed the ball in this one going a combined 8-for-15 with eight runs batted in and a home run. Beyond them, every starter reached base as Great Falls banged out 14 runs on 16 hits. Both teams still sit at the bottom of the North Division with an untouchable rival in the PaddleHeads sitting firmly at the top.
