Zach Penrod has been dealing all season long and put together his best outing on Monday as he completely stifled the Mustangs. The southpaw gave up just two hits and one walk compared to 13 punchouts in seven innings of work, with John LaRossa finishing the job out of the bullpen by giving up just a single hit of his own. Solo shots from Jacob Kline and McClain O'Connor highlighted a five-run fifth, with Missoula adding one more in the ninth to take a 6-0 victory and improve to 28-9. John Michael Faile had two of the three Mustang hits, and McLain Harris deserves some credit for his three innings of two-hit shutout ball in relief after the PaddleHeads' offensive outburst.
Great Falls 6, Idaho Falls 5: Walk-Off Drama Perseveres Weather Delay
A seventh-inning delay failed to ruin a dramatic showing in Great Falls between two sides desperate to put wins together. The Chukars started the action as Trevor Halsema drove in the first run, with Hunter Hudson singling in the fifth for a 2-0 scoreline. The Voyagers battled back with a sacrifice fly and took the lead in the sixth with a pair of fielder's choices. After weather disrupted proceedings in the seventh, the Chukars retook their lead an inning later with a Mark Herron, Jr. home run, followed by a Zach May two-run blast to make it 5-3. Jaylyn Williams homered to left center, and in the ninth, Anthony Herron, Jr. answered with a walk-off two-run double in the right-center gap to give the hosts a 6-5 win. Hudson led the way for Idaho Falls with three hits, and Riley Jepson had three of his own for the Voyagers in the thriller.
Glacier 12, Ogden 9: Coleman Ks Aid Glacier Comeback
With his team trailing 9-7 in the seventh inning, with the bases loaded and the league's hottest hitter up, Justin Coleman was thrown into an unenviable spot out of the Glacier pen, and all he did was strike out Logan Williams looking to get out of the jam and strike out six more Raptors the rest of the way to allow his team to take the comeback victory. A walk and a wild pitch tied the game in the seventh, and Crews Taylor singled to give the Range Riders the lead in the eighth with two more insurance runs to follow. Dean Miller, Nick Lucky, and Sam Linscott all left the yard for Glacier, while Juan Teixeira doubled twice and Dakota Conners tallied three hits for Ogden in a tense affair all the way through, as both sides battle for First Half division crowns.
Rocky Mountain 16, Northern Colorado 8: Vibes Take Fifth in a Row
A complete offensive effort left the Vibes' fifth straight victory in little doubt. Each Rocky Mountain batter reached base safely, and all except one crossed the plate at some point Monday night. David Martinez hit a three-run shot in the second and the hosts scored eight runs in the first four frames, and despite a big fifth inning from NoCo, the bats kept working and the game was quickly put out of reach late, with eight more in the final three innings. Jacob Barfield also homered, and Brandon Crosby, Brett Carson and Casey Petersen contributed stellar outings at the plate. Henry George led the way for the Owlz with a 3-5 performance as they drop their second in a row.
Grand Junction 16, Boise 3: Jackalopes Stop Skid in Style
After two losing efforts despite scoring double-digit runs, the Jackalopes stopped their losing skid with a dismantling of Boise. The Jackalopes got after starter Matt Voelker early and often, leading 12-0 after three, racking up 22 hits on the night when it was all said and done. Blasts from Jaylen Hubbard, Ethan Smith and Colin Gordon, a pair of doubles from Kokko Figueiredo, and four hits from Joe Johnson highlighted the hosts' efforts. Frank Racioppo also went eight strong innings, giving up two runs and earning his first victory of the season. For the Hawks, DJ Poteet stayed hot with a homer and Trevor Minder was the only batter with multiple hits.
