Missoula Stays Perfect Against Boise With Walk-Off Win
Missoula tied it in the eighth, and a Thomas DeBonville pinch-hit solo homer in the ninth gave them the win.
In the third game of the first series this season between the Hawks and PaddleHeads, Boise had the early advantage. Although Missoula scored first off a McClain O'Connor solo homer, the Hawks scored four in the second to take the lead. RBI singles from Tyler Jorgensen and Kenny Oyama as well as a two-run double from Ronnie Allen Jr. drove in the runs. Boise scored again in the third with a solo homer from Sean Skelly, but wouldn't score again. Missoula scored two in the fifth on an error and sacrifice fly to cut the lead. Missoula tied it in the eighth, and a Thomas DeBonville pinch-hit solo homer in the ninth gave them the win. Boise starter Alex Smith was solid, only giving up two earned runs in 6.2 innings. The Missoula relief pitching didn't give up a run in five innings and change. This series continues Friday night.
Mustangs Explode For 22 Runs in Rout of Voyagers
The Mustangs had the advantage over their division rivals from the start, putting up four runs in the first inning led by RBI singles from Connor Denning and Brendan Ryan and an RBI double from Gabe Wurtz. Aside from one run, the Mustangs shut the Voyagers down early and kept scoring, putting up one in the second and two in the fourth off of RBI doubles from Denning and John Michael Faile. Mikey Edie drove in the Mustangs' only run in the fifth and Faile and Ryan each had an RBI in the sixth to take a 10-1 lead. The Voyagers showed some life in the sixth, putting up four runs from an Anthony Herron Jr. two-run single and a Gregory Ryan Jr. two-run homer. However, the Mustangs made sure the Voyagers wouldn't get back in the game by scoring five in the seventh and seven in the eighth. Taylor Lomack had four RBI, most of them off a three-run homer in the eighth, along with Denning and Ryan. Edie and Ryan each had four hits while five other Mustangs had multiple hits.
Nine-Run Ninth Secures Blow-Out Win for Range Riders Over Chukars
The Chukars' two-run lead in the first, made possible by a Michael Kohn two-run homer, did not last long against the Range Riders. After scoring one in the second off of a Jackson Raper solo homer, Glacier put up six in the third off of a two-run triple from Raper, an RBI double from Mason Dinesen, and three RBI singles. They drove in another three in the fourth off RBI singles from Christian Kirtley, Ben Huber, and Dinesen. Besides a solo homer from Kirtler in the sixth, no one scored until Glacier buried Idaho Falls with nine in the final inning. Kirtley and Dinesen had another two RBI, while Dean Miller and Raper each drove in a run, and Gabe Howell hit a three-run homer. The Chukars scored two in the bottom of the ninth but the ship had sailed as the Range Riders won 20-4. Kirtley, Raper, and Dinesen each had four RBI while Howell had three. Noah Barros continued to impress by throwing seven innings of two-run ball, giving up only four runs and striking out 10. These two teams continue their series Friday night.
