Glacier took two of the first three games of their series in Idaho Falls scoring 43 runs in total, including winning the last two by nine and 16 runs respectively. However, they weren't so lucky in this one as the Chukars gave them a taste of their own medicine scoring 15 runs on 18 hits. Tyler Wyatt got things going early, hitting a grand slam in Idaho Falls' six-run first inning. He finished the day with five runs batted in on his two extra-base hits. The final score was 15-6 in favor of the Chukars as they head into the weekend with the series knotted at two.
Ogden 10, Northern Colorado 8: Guadalupe Homers Twice, but Raptors Rally Past Owlz
The Raptors have continued their off-and-on play over the last week, still placing them near the bottom of the second-half South Division standings. They relied on their hitting in this one as they scored ten runs in total against the Owlz pitchers, Juan Teixeira and Reese Alexiades leading the way. The Owlz were quite successful on offense as well as they matched the Raptors with ten hits as Abdel Guadalupe shined with two home runs. Ultimately Odgen held on, and Dan Kubiuk collected his league-leading 15th save in the process.
Missoula 7, Boise 3: Villa Dominant in PaddleHeads Win Over Hawks, Making It Seven Straight for Missoula
At this point in the year what the PaddleHeads are doing has become more than just impressive. One of the reasons for this prolonged success was showcased in this contest, ace starter Alfredo Villa. Currently holding the pitching triple crown, Villa sports a 3.13 ERA with 108 strikeouts, and after this game, he collected his 11thwin of the year. Friday night, he went seven innings striking out seven and allowing five hits as the PaddleHeads used a seventh-inning rally for insurance in the victory. This win made it seven straight victories for Missoula as they lead the North Division in both the second half and the aggregate by a wide margin.
Rocky Mountain 8, Grand Junction 6: Late Heroics Give Vibes Victory Over Jackalopes
If you've watched the Vibes play at all this year in the PBL you would've probably noticed a few things. First off, they can and do score in bunches, and secondly, they don't rely on their pitching to pull off wins. Both of these proved to be true in this one and for the majority of the game, neither team could really get anything going on offense. Going into the eighth the Vibes held a 2-1 lead; however, this was quickly wavered by some small ball offense from the Jackalopes giving them the 3-2 lead. The Vibes then did what the Vibes do, scoring six runs all with two outs to put the game out of reach for the Jackalopes to respond. Grand Junction did score three more in the ninth and forced Rocky Mountain to use five pitchers over the final two frames. With the series even at two, either team has the chance to take it going into the weekend.
Billings 8, Great Falls 6: Consistent Hitting Gets the Job Done for Mustangs Against Voyagers
In a series with two teams that have somewhat turned it around in the second half facing off, they've looked very evenly matched for three out of the four games so far. With Great Falls taking these first two in one-run contests, Billings responded in a big way on Thursday winning 22-5. Last night, the series came home for Billings, and they used some consistent, balanced hitting and a little luck to ultimately give them the victory. The designated hitter and shortstop combo of Denning and Fennelly led the way going a combined 5-for-7 with five runs scored but the Voyagers led 6-5 going into the bottom of the eighth. Billings then scored two on an error and another on a wild pitch, giving them the 8-6 lead, which they would carry to victory.
