Ballers' Kirwin Signs with Boston

The Oakland Ballers have sold the contract of RHP Danny Kirwin to the Boston Red Sox. Kirwin has signed a minor league deal with Boston, pending a physical.

The Oakland Ballers have sold the contract of RHP Danny Kirwin to the Boston Red Sox. Kirwin has signed a minor league deal with Boston, pending a physical.
 
Kirwin, who joined Oakland as a free agent this offseason in December, becomes the first Ballers player to have his contract purchased by a major league club. He was expected to compete for a role in the starting rotation coming into Spring Training with the Ballers in May.
 
Kirwin had this to say on his signing:
"I am blessed to sign with the Boston Red Sox! Wishing Oakland the best of luck this summer, Go Ballers!"
 
Kirwin was a five-year pitcher at Rider University in New Jersey where he was a reliver and closer. In 2023, he registered 14 saves (3rd most nationally) in 25 appearances while striking out 67 in 50.1 innings. He was named a Third-Team All American by both ABCA/Rawlings and Collegiate Baseball. He was also MAAC Reliever of the Year.

As a part of the team's ongoing commitment to build alongside the community, the Ballers plan to donate a portion from each player signing to local charities.
