Adam Fogel breaks single-season home run record with his 33rd blast of the year
Fogel broke out of a tie with former PaddleHead Jayson Newman-Dodd to capture the crown with a two-run shot in the bottom of the first in front of his home crowd.
Stepping up to the plate with two quick outs on the board for his first at-bat of Thursday's in-state matchup versus Glacier, Adam Fogel looked to make history. After tying the Pioneer League single-season home run record on Aug. 14, Fogel has been searching for his record-breaking 33rd long ball of the season for over a week. His wait to make history finally ended in the bottom of the first in Missoula's game against the Range Riders, as he blasted a home run over the right field fence to break his tie with former PaddleHead and league MVP Jayson Newman-Dodd and become the PBL's new single-season home run king.
Fogel's bomb got Missoula its first lead of the game after falling into a quick 1-0 deficit in front of a pumped-up PaddleHeads crowd. His teammates got to watch the historical feat from the field, as the PaddleHeads shared a video on Instagram of pitchers Alfredo Villa and Jestin Jones mic'd up in the bullpen as they took in the moment before Fogel rounded the bases, returned to the dugout, and got to don Missoula's home run chain and cowboy hat for the record-setting 33rd time this year.
