This Week in the PBL (May 25 - 31)
The 2026 Pioneer Baseball League season is underway, and here’s how all 12 teams stacked up during opening week action from May 25–31.
Billings Mustangs (9-2)
Billings swept a six-game series against Idaho Falls and moved into first place in the standings. The Mustangs scored 19 runs in the opener, followed by 16 runs on May 27 and 15 runs on May 28. Billings scored 71 runs during the six-game series.
Cameron Bowen drove in six runs in the opener, Pat Mills recorded five RBI on May 27, and Adam Cootway homered and drove in four runs in the series finale.
Billings travels to Great Falls for a three-game series against the Voyagers before returning home to host Boise for three games.
Boise Hawks (8-4)
Boise won four of six games against Modesto. The Hawks opened the series with a 6-3 victory, then won 15-14 on May 27 and 7-6 on May 28.
After losses on May 29 and 30, Boise closed the series with a 17-4 victory on Sunday. Ethan Underwood finished with three hits and two RBI while Brandon Nigh homered and drove in three runs in the finale. Boise scored 58 runs during the six-game series.
Boise travels to Missoula for a three-game series against the PaddleHeads before traveling to Billings for a three-game series against the Mustangs.
Glacier Range Riders (9-3)
Glacier won four of six games against Great Falls. The Range Riders won the first two games of the series and then went back and forth for the remainder of the series, concluding with a 9-7 victory on May 31.
Carson Garner recorded multiple multi-hit games during the series, Tommy Rover homered twice, and Jacob Steele drove in six runs in Glacier's four victories.
Glacier remains at home for a three-game series against Oakland before hosting Missoula for three games.
Great Falls Voyagers (4-8)
Great Falls dropped four of six games against Glacier. After opening the series with two losses, the Voyagers won back-to-back games by scores of 10-3 and 11-6 before splitting the final two games.
Aidan Redahan went 5-for-6 with a home run and five RBI in the May 30 victory, while Sam Lavin struck out 12 batters in six innings during the May 28 win. Great Falls scored 45 runs during the six-game series.
Great Falls returns home to host Billings for three games before hosting Oakland for three games.
Idaho Falls Chukars (1-10)
Idaho Falls was swept in six games by Billings and fell to 1-10 on the season. The Chukars scored at least seven runs in four of the six games but allowed 71 runs during the series.
Wesley Mitchell homered in consecutive games during the week, while Sam Canton, Garret Ostrander, and Tyler Wyatt each recorded multi-hit performances throughout the series.
Idaho Falls returns home for a six-game series against the Ogden Raptors.
Long Beach Coast (9-3)
Long Beach swept a three-game series in Oakland before sweeping a three-game series at Yuba-Sutter. The Coast finished the week 6-0 and extended their winning streak to nine games.
On May 30, Long Beach defeated Yuba-Sutter 26-15, collecting 22 hits and seven home runs. Thomas McCaffery drove in five runs, and Cooper Vest drove in four.
Long Beach closed the week with a 13-6 win on Sunday. Cuba Bess hit two home runs and drove in three runs, Emilio Corona homered and drove in three runs, and Patrick Roche Jr. added a three-run home run. The Coast scored 13 runs despite only eight hits and drew 12 walks in the victory.
Long Beach returns home to host the RedPocket Mobiles for a six-game series.
Missoula PaddleHeads (7-5)
The PaddleHeads improved upon their 3-3 start the first week of the season following up winning 4 games from their six-game series vs Ogden. After dropping the first game to the Raptors 9-3, Missoula went on to score a combined 66 runs in the next four games, winning them all.
On Wednesday, the team had 22 hits, including four home runs, scoring 26 runs in one game. Tyler Stone was impressive at the plate hitting two doubles, a home run, and driving in seven runs. He now leads the league in RBIs with 25.
Looking forward, the PaddleHeads begin June taking on Boise, then travel to the Glacier Range Riders for three games each.
Modesto Roadsters (8-4)
The Modesto Roadsters cooled off after their hot start to the season, traveling to Boise for another six-game set. Arriving undefeated, they lost the first three games of the series by only one run in two of the contests.
The Roadsters came back to win the next two games of the series with Osiris Johnson continuing his amazing start to the year finishing the week at a .400 average, 3 home runs, 14 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases.
Modesto travels back home to host the Freebirds for six games next week.
Oakland Ballers (6-6)
The Ballers entered the week at 3-3, having faced Missoula and Long Beach. To start the week, they finished their six game series against Long Beach, then hosted the RedPocket Mobiles over the weekend for three games. After dropping their first three games to start the week, they won the next 3, sweeping the Mobiles.
Jeter Ybarra finished the week leading the league in home runs with six, hitting one against Long Beach and one against the Mobiles. C.J Blowers pitched Friday allowing only two earned runs on two hits through six innings, leading to a Ballers 3-2 win.
Oakland goes on the road this week visiting the Glacier Range Riders for three games, then traveling to Great Falls to take on the Voyagers for three more.
Ogden Raptors (4-8)
The Raptors began the week with the Missoula PaddleHeads coming into town, winning two of the six games against them.
On Monday, Nico Saltaformaggio threw 7 innings allowing 0 earned runs on only 4 hits while striking out another 4 batters. Cole Jordan hit a home run Friday and by the end of the week, his total of 5 home runs are good enough to be tied for second-most in the league.
The Raptors will begin the month of June traveling to Idaho Falls to play the Chukars for six games.
RedPocket Mobiles (1-11)
The Mobiles notched their first win of the season this past week when visiting Yuba-Sutter for their first three games of the week, finishing their weekend in Oakland. Although their record may not display it, the RedPocket Mobiles have been much more competitive this past week, with three of their losses by 2 runs or less.
Gianni Horvat has been the standout hitter for this team, finishing the week just below a .400 average with 5 doubles so far this year. On Friday, Ren Arias went 6 innings on the mound, allowing 2 runs on four hits.
The Mobiles look to bounce back this week when visiting Long Beach Coast for six games.
Yuba-Sutter Freebirds (5-7)
The Freebirds faced the RedPocket Mobiles at home to begin the week, with Long Beach Coast coming to town after, facing each team for three games. Winning the first two games, then losing the next three.
Josh Duarte has been a star this year for the Freebirds, leading the league in hits (26), while second in average (.565) and third in doubles (6). Jordan Donahue had 5 RBIs in the win over the Mobiles on Tuesday, with Ryan Velazquez going 5 innings allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits, striking out 6 hitters.
The Yuba-Sutter Freebirds make the short trip to Modesto this week for a six-game series.
