CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES STARTS TONIGHT
Yolo to Play in Glacier for Game 1 of the Five Game Series
The 2024 Pioneer League Championship series kicks off tonight with the Yolo High Wheelers playing the Glacier Range Riders at 7:05pm MDT at Glacier Bank Park.
The Yolo High Wheelers
In their inaugural season, manager Billy Horton led the High Wheelers to the Playoffs with a second-half record of 30-18. This was enough to secure them second place in the second-half standings, after finishing the first half in the middle of the pack with a record of 23-23.
In the first round of the 2024 Playoffs, the High Wheelers took on their California-counterpart, the Oakland Ballers. Yolo dominated in game one of the three-game series, defeating the Ballers 14-4. Oakland clawed back in game two, winning a nail-biting 1-0 ballgame. Finally, Yolo punched their ticket to the Championships with a 6-4 victory in game three in front of the Oakland crowd.
The Glacier Range Riders
The Range Riders secured their path to the playoffs back in July by coming in second place in the first half of the season, finishing at 29-19. However, the Range Riders struggled in the second half, tying for last place with a record of 19-29.
Coming off this second half slump, and taking on the winners of the first half, the Missoula PaddleHeads, the Glacier Range Riders shocked the league by sweeping the 2021 Champions. They won the first game in front of their home crowd 4-2 and then went on the road to Missoula and defeated them with a commanding 17-3 victory, sweeping the series.
Glacier and Yolo will play a best-of-five game series beginning on Tuesday, September 17th at Glacier Bank Park at 7:05pm MDT. Game two will be played on Wednesday in Glacier before the teams travel to California to finish the series out over the weekend. All games can be watched at https://share.flosports.tv/SHbH.
