Hall of Famer, Pedro Martinez, Honored by Great Falls Voyagers
Great Falls welcomed back a legend on Saturday night, as Hall of Fame pitcher Pedro Martinez returned to the city where his professional journey first began. More than three decades after leading the Great Falls Dodgers to the 1990 Pioneer League championship, Martinez was honored with a mural unveiling, a moving ceremony, and a day officially dedicated in his name.
Pedro Martinez, a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame, made his first appearance in the Electric City since he pitched for the Great Falls Dodgers in 1990. The Voyagers and the town that helped start his illustrious career applauded Martinez's return.
During the evening, a mural dedicated to Martinez was unveiled at Voyagers Stadium, and the Hall of Famer gave a moving speech. Martinez thought back on his time in Great Falls, remembering the Pioneer League title the team won in 1990 and the encouragement he got when he first arrived in the US.
Martinez said, "The support pushed me to be the best version of myself in a foreign country and to go out there and be the best I could be."
Pedro Martinez Day was formally designated August 23, 2025, by the City of Great Falls in honor of his outstanding achievements in the sport and his ties to the community. Martinez thanked the Hafner family for hosting him throughout his playing days, thanked the supporters, and promised to come back.
