PIONEER LEAGUE’S “HOME RUN DERBY NIGHT” TOURNAMENT CONCLUDES
Billings’ Casserilla Wins Crown, Idaho Falls is Top Team
The Pioneer Baseball League, an MLB Partner League, announced today the winning players and teams for its first-ever "Home Run Derby Night in the Pioneer League", an in-season home run hitting tournament in conjunction with Major League Baseball's signature event, "The Home Run Derby".
Xavier Casserilla of the Billings Mustangs won the individual HR hitting title with134 homers, followed by Evan Scavotto of the Grand Junction Jackalopes (115), Gabe Vasquez of the Idaho Falls Chukars (114) and Justin Johnson of the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (107).
The Idaho Falls Chukars won first place in the team competition with an 11-1 record. The Glacier Range Riders (9-3) and Grand Junction Jackalopes (8-3) followed. The Billings Mustangs and Missoula PaddleHeads (7-4) tied for the fourth slot.
"This was an extraordinary event for the Pioneer League," said PBL President Mike Shapiro. "Over 1,800 home runs were hit in the tournament, and we were so please by the very favorable reaction we got from our fans, players and teams."
The tournament was held during all PBL Saturday night home games from June 7 through September 6, 2025. The Home Run Derby competitions featured hitters from each PBL team facing off to hit the most home runs in two minutes.
