PBL Players of the Week - Week 9
Each week, the Pioneer League will recognize one hitter and one pitcher whose performance led their teams. The Players of the Week awards highlight the top contributors across the league during the 2025 season.
Week Nine: July 14 - July 20, 2025
Pitcher of the Week: Luke Schafer, (RHP), Glacier Range Riders
Luke Schafer was lights out on the mound this week, earning RedPocket Mobile Pitcher of the Week with a dominant performance. Schafer threw 6.0 shutout innings, allowing just six hits while striking out nine batters and walking none. His ability to command the strike zone and miss bats was the difference-maker, making him the third Range Rider pitcher to earn this honor this season.
Hitter of the Week: Gio Brusa, (OF/1B), Yuba-Sutter High Wheelers
Gio Brusa was an offensive force this week, earning RedPocket Mobile Hitter of the Week honors with a strong performance at the plate. In just five games, Brusa went 12-for-26 (.462), blasting six home runs and driving in 18 RBIs while scoring 11 runs. His slugging percentage of 1.269 was unmatched, leading the league in week 9. Brusa’s ability to combine power and consistency made him an easy choice for this week’s top hitter.
