Angels Great, Troy Percival, to Manage New Long Beach Club
Former Angel and World Series MVP Troy Glaus to Join Coaching Staff
LONG BEACH, Calif. — The new Long Beach Baseball Club joining the Pioneer Baseball League in 2026 announced that former Angels All-Star and World Series champion Troy Percival has been named their first manager.
"Troy Percival represents everything we want this team to stand for — leadership, integrity, and an unrelenting competitive spirit," said Ena Patel, President of the Long Beach club. "He has won at the highest level, developed young players, and built strong communities through the game. We're thrilled he's leading us from day one."
Percival, a Southern California native, had a stellar 14-year MLB career as the closer for the California/Anaheim Angels, ending with 358 career saves. After his playing career concluded, Percival transitioned into coaching and leadership roles, including serving as head coach at the University of California, Riverside, and most recently managing the Idaho Falls Chukars of the Pioneer League.
Another former Angel, Glaus was a four-time All-Star, was named the 2002 World Series MVP, and had 320 home runs with 950 RBIs in his 13-year MLB career. Since retiring as a player, Glaus has devoted himself to coaching, most recently working with the USA Baseball National Team Development Program and serving in various high school and travel baseball coaching roles.
