Pioneer Baseball League Players of the Month: June
Trimble, Serrano Named Pioneer Baseball League Players of the Month Sponsored by RedPocket Mobile
The Pioneer Baseball League has named Idaho Falls Chukars infielder Justin Trimble and Modesto Roadsters right-hander Omar Serrano its Players of the Month sponsored by RedPocket Mobile. Trimble earned Hitter of the Month honors after producing one of the league's most dominant offensive stretches, while Serrano was named Pitcher of the Month after anchoring Modesto's rotation with five strong starts.
Trimble put together a massive month for Idaho Falls, batting .450 with a .524 on-base percentage and an .890 slugging percentage across 26 June games. He collected 49 hits, 12 doubles, 12 home runs, 47 RBI, 37 runs scored, and 17 walks while reaching base in every game and recording at least one hit in 24 of 26 contests.
The Chukars' middle-of-the-order force delivered 16 multi-hit performances, 12 multi-RBI games, and seven games with at least three RBI. His biggest nights included a two-homer, three-RBI game on June 11, a two-homer, six-RBI performance in a 17-16 win over Boise on June 16, a five-hit, four-RBI game against the RedPocket Mobiles on June 21, and a six-RBI night against Great Falls on June 23.
Trimble stayed hot through the final week of the month, adding two hits and two RBI on June 25, reaching base safely in each of the next three games against Boise, and then finishing June with a strong doubleheader at Billings. He went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored in the first game before adding another hit, two RBI, and a walk in the second.
Serrano was equally impressive on the mound for Modesto, going 2-0 with a 2.61 ERA across five June starts. Over 31.0 innings, he allowed 23 hits, nine earned runs, and nine walks while striking out 37. He held opposing hitters to a .204 batting average and posted a 1.03 WHIP, giving the Roadsters a steady top-of-the-rotation presence throughout the month.
Serrano opened June by allowing two earned runs over five innings against Yuba-Sutter while striking out six, then followed with one of his sharpest outings on June 7, holding the Freebirds to one run on three hits across six innings to earn the win in Modesto's 6-3 victory. He continued to miss bats in the middle of the month, striking out nine over six innings against Long Beach on June 13 and then striking out 10 over seven innings at Oakland on June 19.
He closed the month with another winning start on June 25, throwing seven innings of one-run baseball against Oakland while issuing no walks and striking out six in Modesto's 6-1 victory. Between Trimble's month-long offensive dominance and Serrano's consistent, swing-and-miss performances on the mound, the two stood out as the Pioneer Baseball League's top players for the month.
