Pioneer Baseball League Players of the Week: Week 8
Wyatt, Hankins Named Pioneer Baseball League Players of the Week Sponsored by RedPocket Mobile
The Pioneer Baseball League has named Idaho Falls Chukars outfielder Tyler Wyatt and Billings Mustangs right-hander David Hankins its Players of the Week sponsored by RedPocket Mobile. Wyatt earned Hitter of the Week honors after a massive six-game power surge for Idaho Falls, while Hankins received Pitcher of the Week honors after a strong eight-inning start for Billings.
Wyatt delivered one of the league's loudest offensive weeks, batting .452 with a .485 on-base percentage and a 1.194 slugging percentage. Across six games, he went 14-for-31 with three doubles, one triple, six home runs, 12 RBI, 14 runs scored, two walks, and one stolen base.
After scoring twice against Great Falls on July 7, Wyatt helped Idaho Falls beat the Voyagers, 4-1, the next night by going 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, and two runs scored. He followed with his biggest all-around game of the week on July 9, going 4-for-6 with a triple, a home run, four RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base in an 18-15 win over Great Falls.
Wyatt continued to drive the Chukars' offense through the weekend series against Billings. He hit two home runs and drove in three on July 10, added a double, a homer, an RBI, and two runs on July 11, then closed the week with another four-hit game on July 12. In that finale, Wyatt went 4-for-6 with a double, two home runs, four RBI, and four runs scored, finishing the week with 37 total bases and a 1.679 OPS.
Hankins provided Billings with a dominant start on July 8, leading the Mustangs to an 18-2 victory over the RedPocket Mobiles. The right-hander worked eight innings, allowing just two runs on three hits while walking three and striking out seven to improve his record to 2-2.
Hankins controlled the game from the start, holding RedPocket scoreless through the first five innings while Billings built a commanding lead. The Mobiles broke through for two runs in the sixth, but Hankins avoided further damage and kept the game firmly in the Mustangs' control.
He faced 29 batters and threw 98 pitches, including 60 strikes, without allowing a home run or throwing a wild pitch. His eight-inning effort limited RedPocket to just three hits during his outing and helped set the tone for a complete Billings win.
Wyatt's explosive power and Hankins' steady command represented two of the strongest performances of the week in the Pioneer Baseball League. One fueled Idaho Falls with extra-base damage and run production, while the other gave Billings a deep, efficient start worthy of Pitcher of the Week recognition.
