Coast Make a Splash in Inaugural Season

The Long Beach Coast could not have asked for a stronger introduction to the Pioneer Baseball League. Through the opening 48 games of their inaugural campaign, the expansion club compiled a 37-11 (.771) record, the best mark in the league, while riding a four-game winning streak into the break. Long Beach was nearly unbeatable at home, posting an 18-3 record, and proved equally capable on the road with a 19-8 mark.

The Coast paired consistent winning with one of the league's most productive offenses. Long Beach scored 465 runs through its first 48 games while collecting 546 hits, 87 home runs, 203 extra-base hits, and 933 total bases. The club also ranked among the league leaders with 439 RBIs, 308 walks, and a league-high 81 hit batters, finishing the first half with a .315 batting average, .435 on-base percentage, and .539 slugging percentage.

The game log reflects just how explosive the Coast offense has been. Long Beach scored at least 10 runs in 24 of its 48 games, highlighted by a season-high 26-run outburst against Yuba-Sutter on May 29. The Coast also posted 18 runs against Oakland on June 17, 15-run performances against Oakland and Yuba-Sutter in May, 14 runs against Oakland on July 2, and 13-run games against the Freebirds, Modesto Roadsters, RedPocket Mobiles, and Oakland Ballers throughout the first half.

The pitching staff complemented the offense by producing the league's top earned run average at 5.88 while holding opponents to a .277 batting average, the best mark in the Pioneer Baseball League. Long Beach also recorded three shutouts, including a 10-0 victory over Yuba-Sutter on May 21, an 8-0 win over Modesto on June 12, and a 13-0 shutout of the Freebirds on June 19. The Coast consistently limited damage despite playing in one of professional baseball's most hitter-friendly leagues, providing the balance needed to support the club's high-powered lineup.

For an expansion franchise, the first half has been nothing short of remarkable. The Coast have combined explosive offense with dependable pitching to establish themselves as one of the Pioneer Baseball League's elite clubs. With the league's best record through 48 games, Long Beach has quickly shown that its inaugural season is shaping up to be one to remember.
