Mustangs Earn Postseason Berth with Dominant Opening Stretch

The Billings Mustangs have established themselves as one of the Pioneer Baseball League's premier clubs through the opening portion of the 2026 season, compiling a 36-11 (.766) record to become one of the first two teams to secure a berth in the Pioneer Baseball League Postseason. Billings has been equally impressive home and away, posting an 18-9 record at Dehler Park while dominating on the road with an 18-2 mark. The Mustangs also enter the break riding a five-game winning streak.

The offense has been the driving force behind Billings' success. The Mustangs have reached double digits in runs 31 times in 47 games, including 20 or more runs on seven occasions. Their biggest offensive performances included 27 runs against Missoula on June 16, 26 runs against Missoula on June 18, 22 runs against Glacier on May 23, 21 runs against Idaho Falls on July 12, and 20-run games against Missoula on June 23 and Great Falls on July 5. Billings also posted 19-run efforts against Idaho Falls on May 26 and 18 runs against the RedPocket Mobiles on July 8.

The Mustangs have paired that run production with an aggressive style of play. They opened the season by winning nine of their first 11 games before putting together multiple lengthy winning streaks throughout June and July. Billings swept series against Idaho Falls on multiple occasions while also recording series victories over Glacier, Great Falls, Missoula, Boise, and the RedPocket Mobiles. The club finished the stretch by winning eight of its final nine games heading into the break.

The pitching staff has complemented the explosive lineup by delivering timely performances throughout the season. Billings recorded shutout victories over Idaho Falls (9-0) on July 2 while holding opponents to two runs or fewer in six victories. The Mustangs also allowed four runs or fewer in wins over Great Falls, Boise, Glacier, Missoula, and the RedPocket Mobiles, consistently giving their offense an opportunity to take control of games.

With a postseason berth already secured, the Mustangs have put themselves in an enviable position. Their combination of consistent winning, explosive offense, and timely pitching has produced one of the league's best records, and they'll look to carry that momentum into the second half as they prepare for a run at the Pioneer Baseball League championship.
