This Week in the PBL (July 13-19)

Billings Mustangs 42-11 (6-0)

Billings finished 6-0, winning three games against Great Falls and three against Glacier. Cameron Bowen recorded multiple hits in all three Great Falls games, including a home run in each game of the July 15 doubleheader and three RBIs on July 16. Bodee Wright drove in three runs in the first game on July 15, while Jacob Gutierrez had three hits in that game and two RBIs in the second.

Adam Cootway homered twice in a 5-3 win over Glacier. Sean Lynch, Michael Soper and Gutierrez each homered in the 14-3 win, with Lynch and A.J. Shaver driving in three runs apiece. Shaver added five RBIs in the 13-8 finale.

Billings will play three games at Glacier, followed by three games at Missoula next week.

Boise Hawks 28-26 (5-1)

Boise went 5–1 against the RedPocket Mobiles, including a knockout-round win on July 15. Jeremiah Begora had three hits and four RBIs in that game, including a home run, while Joseph Kalafut also homered. Begora added three RBIs in Boise's 21–19 win on July 17.  

Logan Meyer went 4-for-6 with two doubles, a triple and two RBIs in the 17–8 win on July 16. Wyatt Grant finished 4-for-5 with four RBIs in the finale, and Avery Neaves hit a three-run homer. Boise's staff also held RedPocket to five hits in the July 14 and July 19 wins.  

Boise will play three games at Yuba-Sutter, followed by three games at Oakland next.

Glacier Range Riders 29-25 (0-6)

Glacier went 0-6 this week, dropping three games at Missoula and three at Billings. The Range Riders scored 12 runs on 20 hits on July 16 but lost in the knockout round after Nich Klemp defeated Jake Millan, 1-0. Tommy Rover had four hits, Carson Garner drove in three runs, and Brock Vradenburg homered with two RBIs in the game.

Kyle Ashworth had three hits in the July 19 finale, while Donovan Ratfield added two hits and two walks. Vradenburg went 3-for-3 with an RBI in the first game of the July 18 doubleheader, and Zach Longshore struck out seven over six innings.

Glacier hosts Billings for three games, followed by three home games against Ogden.

Great Falls Voyagers 19-35 (1-5)

Great Falls went 1–5, losing three games to Billings before taking one of three at Missoula. Vincent Temesvary doubled twice and drove in a run in the first game on July 15, while Trey Cruz went 3-for-4 with a home run in the second. Antonio Barranca homered in the July 16 loss.

The Voyagers scored five runs in each of the first two innings of their 12–11 win at Missoula. Blake Wilhoite, Cruz, Ethan Ott and William Ponce each drove in two runs. Anthony Manisero had three hits and two RBIs in the finale, while Ott homered and scored three times.  

Great Falls hosts Ogden for three games, then travels to Idaho Falls for three games.

Idaho Falls Chukars 18-36 (3-3)

Idaho Falls went 3–3 during six games at Ogden. Tyler Wyatt drove in four runs and homered twice in the July 15 win, then collected three hits and five RBIs the next night. Garret Ostrander had three hits, including a home run, on July 15.  

Josh Leerssen threw a seven-hit shutout with seven strikeouts in the 4–0 win on July 17. Seth Spencer followed with eight innings of two-run baseball on July 18, and Drew Stengren drove in two runs during a four-run ninth inning. Sam Canton homered twice and drove in three runs in the finale.  

Idaho Falls hosts Missoula for three games, followed by three home games against Great Falls.

Long Beach Coast 43-11 (6-0)

Long Beach went 6-0 this week, sweeping Oakland and Yuba-Sutter. The Coast scored at least eight runs in five games, including 12-4 and 12-9 wins over Oakland and an 11-1 win over Yuba-Sutter. Cuba Bess drove in three runs on July 17, while Jacob Jacblonski homered three times during the week, and Eddy Pelc had three hits and three RBIs in the July 16 win.

Nick Bautista held Yuba-Sutter scoreless across seven innings with nine strikeouts, Nathan Hemmerling struck out 10 in six innings, and Matthew O'Brien allowed four hits over 7 1/3 scoreless innings in the final game.

Next week, Long Beach hosts Oakland for three games, followed by three home games against the RedPocket Mobiles.

Missoula PaddleHeads 29-24 (5-1)

The PaddleHeads spent the entire week at home, hosting the Glacier Range Riders for three games before welcoming the Great Falls Voyagers over the weekend. Missoula took all three from Glacier, winning 10-7 and 9-4 before Thursday's thriller. Down 8-0 in the fourth inning, the PaddleHeads clawed all the way back to force a 12-12 tie, with Nich Klemp and Sergio Gutierrez both going yard. Klemp then beat Jake Millan 1-0 in the knockout round to complete the comeback.

Against Great Falls, Missoula won 9-5 on Friday, dropped Saturday's game 12-11, then closed out the week with a 10-7 victory on Sunday.

The Missoula PaddleHeads will travel to Idaho Falls to face the Chukars for three games this week, then return home to host the Billings Mustangs over the weekend.

Modesto Roadsters 33-21 (6-0)

The Roadsters hosted the Yuba-Sutter Freebirds for three games, then traveled to Oakland to face the Ballers, and did not lose all week.

Modesto opened with a 17-5 rout on Tuesday; Max Handron homered and drove in five, while Corbin Talley picked up the win with six innings of two-run ball, striking out six. The Roadsters finished the sweep with 4-3 and 6-4 wins.

In Oakland, Modesto won back-to-back 9-5 games on Friday and Saturday, then completed the sweep with a 12-3 win on Sunday. The perfect 6-0 week has the Roadsters riding a six-game winning streak.

This week, Modesto will host the RedPocket Mobiles for three games, then travel to Yuba-Sutter for a weekend series against the Freebirds.

Oakland Ballers 22-32 (0-6)

The Ballers spent the front half of the week in Long Beach against the Coast, then returned home to host the Modesto Roadsters.

The Coast took all three games, winning 12-4, 8-2, and 12-9. Back at home, the Ballers dropped a pair of 9-5 games to Modesto on Friday and Saturday before falling 12-3 on Sunday. Oakland enters the new week on a six-game losing streak. This week, the Ballers travel back to Long Beach for three against the Coast, then return home to host the Boise Hawks over the weekend.

Ogden Raptors 32-22 (3-3)

The Ogden Raptors spent the entire week at home, hosting the Idaho Falls Chukars in a six-game set. The two sides traded wins all week.

Ogden took the opener 13-7 on Tuesday, dropped Wednesday's game 8-6, then bounced back with a 9-6 win on Thursday.

The Chukars shut out the Raptors 4-0 on Friday and won 5-2 on Saturday, but Ogden closed the series with a 14-6 statement win on Sunday to split the set.

The Raptors hit the road this week, traveling to Great Falls for three games against the Voyagers before finishing the week at the Glacier Range Riders.

RedPocket Mobiles 13-41 (1-5)

The Mobiles spent all six games this past week in Boise taking on the Hawks, dropping the opener 3-2 and then falling 6-5 in Wednesday's knockout round. After a 17-8 loss Thursday and a wild 21-19 slugfest defeat on Friday, the Mobiles broke through Saturday in a big way, hammering the Hawks 22-4 behind a 19-hit attack.

Nick Poss homered and drove in four, Marquis Jackson tripled twice with four RBI, and Blayne Huter earned the win with seven innings of two-run ball, striking out five. Boise took the finale 13-6 on Sunday.

The RedPocket Mobiles will be at Modesto for three games this week, then travel to Long Beach to face the Coast over the weekend.

Yuba-Sutter Freebirds 15-39 (0-6)

The Freebirds began the week at the Modesto Roadsters for three games before traveling to Long Beach to face the Coast.

Yuba-Sutter came up empty, getting swept in both series. After a 17-5 loss in the opener, the Freebirds kept the next two close, falling 4-3 and 6-4. In Long Beach, they dropped the opener 11-1, battled Saturday before losing 8-6, and were shut out 4-0 on Sunday.

The Yuba-Sutter Freebirds will be home all week, hosting the Boise Hawks for three games before welcoming the Modesto Roadsters for a weekend series.
